Music
at St. Stephen's

Members of St. Stephen's enjoy music - and feel that the quality of our music program is a defining part of who we are. We look forward to singing hymns on Sunday and to listening to our all-volunteer choir - which sings every week from September through May.

Behind all this is Music Director James Turner, who comes from near Birmingham, England, where he sang and first studied organ at a local church. He held various positions as organist, chorus accompanist, and choir master until his job took him, and his wife Claire, to South Africa in 1996, and then to New York in 1999. In his life outside the church, James is a chartered accountant (an English CPA), and the father of two children.

We think you'll want to hear more - so please join us on a Sunday. During the choir's summer break, we sing our favorite hymns, and occasionally have special guests perform or sing.

As a community of faith, we are especially mindful of St. Augustine's belief that those who sing, pray twice. And we do a lot of singing!
