Children
at St. Stephen's

Children and youth are an important part of parish life at St. Stephen’s. They are active and welcome participants in the church community. Our Sunday school offers a comprehensive program of Christian education beginning with pre-school age children, and continuing through Confirmation (for middle and high school students). Classes are held from September through May.

Rev. Abernathy baptizing a new congregant of St Stephens Although nursery care is provided each Sunday, children of any age are always welcome in worship. Each Sunday they are invited to the front of the church for a lesson and conversation with our pastor (sometimes called the “children’s sermon”). Middle school students take turns assisting in worship as acolytes, lectors, and ushers. Older youth can sing in the St. Stephen’s choir. All are also able to participate in the church’s outreach projects - helping at the food pantry, participating in clean-up days, and raising money for worthwhile projects.
